Parent Testimonials

"My name is Candie C. I am a single parent of two boys. My oldest son is 19 years old. He is a shaken baby survivor with a traumatic brain injury. My youngest son is 14 years old and now a freshman at Canyon View High School. My youngest son loves basketball! Anytime there is an opportunity for him to play, practice or train he jumps on it. He has been a part of MCBA since 2017/2018. MCBA’s coach is Maurice Carter (Coach Moe). We have known Coach Moe since my son and his son were in preschool together. Coach Moe is not only a great Coach he is a great person!

As I stated before, I am a single parent. My children’s father is not active in their lives. Coach Moe has been a male role model to my son teaching not only physical basketball skills but also teaching the mental part of basketball as well as life. There was a time recently when my finances weren’t consistent as they were in the past. Coach Moe never said to me to "call me when you get back on your feet". He said "don’t you worry about it". This was huge! I don’t think Coach Moe thought anything of it, but it took a lot of worry off me.

Coach Moe is genuinely a great person with a heart of gold. As I stated earlier my oldest son is disabled. Coach Moe goes out of his way to say hello, have conversations with him, acknowledge him and make him feel included. He is the highlight of my son’s day. My son isn’t a fan of basketball unless there is audio description due to him being blind. But when he hears Coach Moe will be there, he says “I’m going, the coach may want to see me.” When he does Coach Moe is there giving him the attention like he’s the only one in the world with him. This is another huge thing Coach Moe has done for me because in “real life” disabled people aren’t really acknowledged in life. It is horrible to say but true. When you have these people who make them feel like them matter you don’t ever want to let them go.

I apologize for making this letter about me, but it shows what a great person, coach, mentor, role model and friend Coach Moe is. Coach Moe deserves so much more than just my acknowledgment."

“I am writing this letter to enthusiastically recommend Maurice Carter and his exceptional youth basketball training program, Moe Carter Basketball Academy (MCBA).  As a former NBA player and overseas athlete, Maurice brings a wealth of experience, dedication, and passion to his coaching. I had the privilege of witnessing firsthand the impact that Maurice has had on young athletes through MCBA.  His commitment to fostering not only basketball skills but also leadership qualities and a strong belief in oneself is truly commendable. His coaching methods are innovative, personalized, and designed to bring out the best in each participant. Maurice's ability to connect with young athletes is remarkable. He creates a positive and nurturing environment where players feel motivated, empowered, and encouraged to reach their full potential, both on and off the court. His emphasis on teamwork, discipline, and personal growth sets MCBA apart as a program that goes beyond basketball training.

Furthermore, Maurice's own journey as a professional basketball player adds a unique perspective to his coaching. His experiences in the NBA and overseas leagues give him valuable insights into the demands of the game at the highest level. He uses these experiences to inspire his students, teaching them not only the skills of the game but also the work ethic, resilience, and determination required to succeed in the competitive world of sports and outside of it. I have no doubt that MCBA is a program that will continue to make a positive impact on the lives of young athletes. Maurice's dedication, integrity, and genuine desire to see his students thrive are qualities that make him an outstanding coach and mentor. I wholeheartedly endorse him and his program, confident that those who have the opportunity to be a part of MCBA will emerge as not only skilled basketball players, but also as leaders and believers in their own potential.”

Adam H.

“Coach Carter has coached and trained my 14-year-old daughter, Haven, and my 12-year-old son, Drake, over the past several years. In their basketball training sessions, Coach Carter has displayed a high level of patience and attention to detail. He fosters a culture of acceptance and teamwork with his players, despite their varying levels of age, experience, or skill set. My children enjoyed his training sessions and coaching style. They have often told me that he is their favorite coach in any sport that they have played.

He is a quality individual, invests his time and talents in our community, and is an excellent mentor to youth of all ages. He promotes a high level of accountability and discipline, while also creating a positive environment for his players through encouragement and recognition. His high level of basketball experience demands respect from his players, and his personal and professional approach really sets him apart from other coaches and trainers that our family has had experience with.”

Greg U.

“Having been in the coaching profession for 25 years I immediately recognized that what Coach Carter was doing was unique.

Each training session was a diverse representation of our local community. Young people from all over the area, working hard to improve their basketball skills. Many can teach the skills of basketball, but what Coach Carter does far exceeds that. He creates an environment of accountability that the young men and women respond to. His workouts are rigorous, but they crave the structure.

What MCBA promotes and instills in young people goes far beyond the sport of basketball. Basketball is a vehicle that Coach Carter uses to teach life skills as well.”
